How to Create a Mystical Magical Garden

I have discovered after years of selling how many of you actually buy the products I sell and put them in your garden. I have had many emails and photos from you to let me know what you have been up to :o) I have put some ideas together to give you an idea when creating a mystical garden, the ideas are endless. Just use your imagination...you can have a small villiage or a large town...lol...it is totally upto you! Mystical gardens can be made in pots and planters (handy for moving around), window boxes etc...you do not need to have a garden to enjoy your mystical garden.
It is not just children that love the idea of a mystical garden and it is not just girls that love it too!! What a fabulous idea to relax in your own little retreat, far away from the hustle and bustle of modern day living. Sit back with your favourite tipple on a warm summers day/evening and melt away into your own fantasy world.
The first step to creating your mystical garden is to find an ideal spot in your garden that is quiet and secluded, away from the full rays of the sun all day...don't forget that your plants will need some sunshine. Make use of natural resources around you. One customer used astro turf and has hidden the joins with gravel and small pebbles it saves on trying to keep the lawn down and disturbing everything else in the garden. Make pathways with pebbles, gravel, crazy paving and stepping stones.
Use larger stones and boulders for decoration, tree stumps, fir cones etc generally anything that comes from the natural earth. You can get these from garden centres and shops, but it makes it more interesting to have a day in the woods scouting around for them. Have a picnic while you are there :o)

Some ideas for plants and herbs suitable for your mystical garden:
Yarrow, Rosemary, Elfin Thyme, Lavender, Tulips, Fairy Rose, Pansies, Foxgloves, Coral Bell, Bleeding Heart, Primrose, Violets, Ferns, Bluebells, Moss, Sunflower, Salvia. Many of these plants also attract butterflies. A trip to your local garden centre will give you some more ideas.
Many figurines and garden ornaments are suitable for outdoors, If they are made from resin, metal, ceramics, pottery etc they are suitable to be left outside all year round. Handpainted products and items with added glitter and sparkle will weather in time and need to be brought indoors if the weather changes.
How to create a Magical Fairy Garden

Before adding your figurines etc and after completing the basic design above, add a bit of lighting to your garden, hang fairy lights, crystals, windchimes and lanterns from trees and fences, add some wall hangings to your fences. Prop a fairy door against a tree...as they say....make it and they will come. Place solar lighting around the edge.
Fairies love shiney objects, but so do birds, so please be careful as you do not want to choke the poor little things. Fairies love globes, some garden centres actually sell fairies holding globes and some of them are also solar lighting.
Make a small pond with the saucer of a plant pot, just embed it into the ground, place some frogs around your pond, or maybe a fishing gnome.
Include a bird bath, bird feeder to the mix even a bird table. Add your fairy figurines, hanging fairies etc, these are great fairies on sticks for your planters.

You can also add some toadstools and mushroom ornaments, some angels and cherubs. The cherubs have been very popular and are especially used in memorial gardens for family and friends who have passed away...and for pets also!
Don't forget to include a seat...not for the fairies...but for you, so you can sit and appreciate all your hard work.
Other Mystical Gardens

A Mystical Magical Garden does not have to begin and end with fairies, try your hand at a gothic garden with, gargoyles, skulls, skeletons and dragons, a gothic arch with black roses, Tree man and green man wall plaques also fair well in any mystical garden you decide to create.
Extra lighting on a summer evening can also include candles with themed candle holders, surround yourself with a fabulous aroma of incense with a themed incense holder.
Spiritual gardens tend to be very serene and very minimilistic for your buddhas and oriental ornaments.
Just let your imagination run free, if you have any ideas to include then please email to let me know.
Also I am looking for some more pics to make up a gallery, so if you want your idea included then please forward them onto me. Contact me at mysticalsales@mysticalencounter.co.uk
